Hello. I'm Sarah, the creative mind behind Little Blue Fish. After many years working first in graphic design and subsequently corporate communications, it became time to embark on something new, a change of direction, something to fit with burgeoning family commitments and, something that I'd love. I've always felt most content when I'm creating or making something, and when I'm on the beach, so beach-inspired making was the obvious choice.
Living in Stonehaven with the beach on my doorstep, my first experimental foray into beach crafts was in early 2020 with driftwood and pebbles. Starting my own micro-business has been exciting, but turning creativity into a business made me realise I was just a little fish finding my way in a big sea full of exceptionally talented and experienced creatives.
At the outset, one of my friends had suggested collecting seaglass, but although my friend could see it all over the beach, I just couldn't see it. I was told I needed 'to get my eye-in'. It turns out that is a real thing. I soon did 'get my eye-in' and haven't looked back since.
Today, I love to create both art and jewellery from these beautiful beach treasures, breathing new life into that which was broken and unloved. I am mostly self-taught (web-taught), learning more each and every day thanks to the inspiration and generosity of a plethora of online creators and tutors, countless hours of trial-and-error, and the encouragement and critique of friends, family and customers. My hope is that you enjoy looking at or wearing my creations as much as I enjoy making them.
The beaches of the North East of Scotland are awash with sea-tumbled treasure, a paradise for compulsive beachcombers. If you have the patience and know where to look, you can find beautiful pieces of seaglass, fragments of sea-worn pottery and gnarly driftwood nestled amongst the sand, pebbles and seaweed on the beaches.
If you have 'got your eye-in' you could be lucky enough to find your own treasures on Stonehaven's beautiful beach.

Little Blue Fish is a one-woman, local beach-craft business in Stonehaven, just south of Aberdeen in the North East of Scotland.
Beach treasure is incorporated into everything I make, from seaglass pendants, bracelets, ear-rings and necklaces, driftwood wreaths, trees and mirrors, seaglass pictures, driftwood and wire sculptures, and driftwood & rag-tie garland.
You can find my range of Stonehaven Seaglass stud earrings, drop earrings, and necklaces in a lovely local shop, My Beautiful Caravan, 'a quirky wee gift shop, choc full of wonders', in Stonehaven's Market Square.
If you too like to make and create and learn new skills, join me for a workshop where you can learn to make your own seaglass jewellery or driftwood and wire sculpture, in collaboration with Elevate: The Space, 'a dedicated creative space' and wellness clinic, in the old Sheriff Court Building in Stonehaven.
Keep an eye on my News page to find out when I'm hosting a stall or running a workshop.
